The Supreme Court Collegium has reaffirmed its decision to transfer Justice Shamim Ahmed from the Allahabad High Court to the Madras High Court. Initially proposed on August 21, 2024, the transfer was aimed at enhancing the administration of justice. However, Justice Ahmed sought reconsideration the following day, expressing reservations about the move.
Despite his appeal, the Collegium, which includes Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, Surya Kant, and Hrishikesh Roy, found no substantial grounds to alter their decision. Consequently, they stood by their original recommendation, underscoring their commitment to judicial efficiency.
