Justice Manmohan, a distinguished figure in India’s judiciary, has ascended to the Supreme Court, marking another milestone in his remarkable career. The President of India formally appointed him as a Supreme Court Judge under Article 124(2) of the Constitution, effective upon assuming office.
This elevation, recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on November 28, 2024, follows Justice Manmohan’s tenure as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, where he assumed the role on September 29, 2024. His leadership there was brief but impactful, reflecting his extensive expertise and commitment to the rule of law.
Enrolling as an advocate in 1987, Justice Manmohan built a robust legal career spanning civil, criminal, constitutional, taxation, arbitration, trademark, and service law. He represented the Government of India as a Senior Panel Advocate in both the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. His acumen earned him the title of Senior Advocate in 2003, a distinction that underscored his reputation as a legal stalwart.
Justice Manmohan’s judicial journey began with his appointment as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court in March 2008, with a subsequent elevation to Permanent Judge in December 2009. Across these roles, his judgments have been lauded for their clarity, fairness, and adherence to justice.
