Bollywood Stars in Hot Seat Over Controversial Pan Masala Ad

A Jaipur consumer forum has issued notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff over their involvement in an allegedly misleading advertisement for Vimal Pan Masala. The case questions the claim that “every grain contains the strength of saffron”—a promise that a petitioner argues is deceptive marketing.

The Jaipur District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission has also summoned the product’s manufacturers, instructing all parties to respond by March 19, either in person or through a representative.

The legal challenge stems from a complaint by Yogendra Singh Badiyal, who contends that the tagline “Daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum” misleads consumers by implying that the product contains saffron, despite the stark price gap between the two substances. He argues that such advertising not only fuels misleading perceptions but also promotes a product known for its health risks, including cancer.

The petition seeks immediate action against the actors for endorsing what it calls “misinformation” and demands that the advertisements be pulled from circulation. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for celebrity endorsements and the accountability of public figures in advertising.
