The National Lok Adalat, a platform designed to swiftly address a variety of legal disputes, is all set to take place across 28 states and union territories on May 10, 2025. Under the guidance of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Chief Justice designate BR Gavai, the event promises to deliver timely resolutions to numerous cases.
For regions observing summer vacations, including Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, the Lok Adalat will occur on later dates such as June 14. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will follow on June 21, Andhra Pradesh on July 5, with Gujarat and Karnataka closing the loop on July 12.
The scope of this Lok Adalat is broad, covering both pre-litigation and pending cases, including criminal offenses that can be compounded, traffic violations, plea bargains, and disputes in banking recovery, land acquisition, intellectual property rights, and consumer issues. Family matters, excluding divorces, along with motor accident claims, cheque dishonor cases, and labor disputes, will also find a seat at the table. It’s a critical opportunity for citizens to resolve their grievances efficiently, bringing timely justice directly to the people.
