In a move that resets the rhythm of weekend operations, the Supreme Court has declared its Registry offices will remain open on all Saturdays beginning July 14, 2025.
The shift comes via a formal notification backed by presidential approval under Article 145 of the Constitution. With this, a quiet line in the 2025 Court calendar—once stating that the Registry would shut on 2nd and 4th Saturdays—has now been erased from existence.
As per the fresh amendment to Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, Saturday hours are fixed from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. But there’s a catch: the Registry won’t entertain any fresh work past noon unless it’s deemed urgent.
And the changes don’t stop at Saturdays. The revised Rule 3 brings clarity to operations during half-working days and even festive breaks like Christmas and New Year—leaving it to the Chief Justice to decide when the lights stay on.
Call it a tweak or a transformation, but for the Supreme Court Registry, weekends are no longer what they used to be.
