Fourteen Fresh Faces Tipped for Bombay High Court Bench by Supreme Court Collegium

The country’s top judicial body has cleared the way for a significant addition to the Bombay High Court. On August 19, the Supreme Court collegium signed off on the elevation of 14 advocates, putting their names forward to take up judgeships in one of India’s busiest courts.

The decision came through two separate resolutions.

The first list carried eight names:

  • Siddheshwar Sundarrao Thombre
  • Mehroz Ashraf Khan Pathan
  • Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale
  • Sandesh Dadasaheb Patil
  • Shreeram Vinayak Shirsat
  • Hiten Shamrao Venegavkar
  • Rajnish Ratnakar Vyas
  • Raj Damodar Wakode

The second resolution named six more:

  • Nandesh Shankarrao Deshpande
  • Amit Satyavan Jamsandekar
  • Ashish Sahadev Chavan
  • Vaishali Nimbajirao Patil-Jadhav
  • Abasaheb Dharmaji Shinde
  • Farhan Parvez Dubash

Among them, Hiten Venegavkar currently leads as Maharashtra’s Chief Public Prosecutor, while Farhan Dubash serves as secretary of the Bombay Bar Association.

If cleared, this set of appointments will mark a substantial boost to the High Court’s strength and workload capacity.
