The corridors of the Kerala High Court will now see three familiar faces donning a permanent role. The Centre has approved the elevation of Justice Johnson John, Justice Gopinathan Unnithan Girish, and Justice Chellappan Nadar Pratheep Kumar as permanent judges.
Their confirmation follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, which had backed their names just days earlier on August 26.
With this move, the High Court—currently operating with 43 judges against a sanctioned strength of 47—closes in further on filling its sanctioned bench, leaving only four vacancies.
This transition from additional to permanent judgeship not only strengthens the institution but also ensures greater continuity in the judicial process in Kerala.
