In a progressive move, the Sikkim High Court has announced the implementation of a menstrual leave policy for its women employees. This policy, unveiled on May 27, allows women working in the High Court Registry to take 2-3 days of menstrual leave each month.
To avail of this leave, employees must first obtain a recommendation from the High Court’s medical officer. The policy also ensures that these days will not be deducted from the employees’ regular leave balance.
This initiative marks a significant step towards recognizing and accommodating women’s health needs in the workplace.
