In a stark revelation, the Delhi High Court has declared that the Popular Front of India (PFI) harbored plans to destabilize India’s unity and sovereignty, targeting a complete overhaul of the government structure by 2047.
The court’s decision came as it denied bail to E Abubacker, arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain highlighted the PFI’s chilling scheme, which included assassinating Hindu leaders, assaulting security forces, and ultimately establishing a Caliphate by mid-century.
The justices emphasized that these objectives weren’t just about toppling the government but were direct attacks on the nation’s core principles. The court noted PFI’s efforts in organizing terror camps, radicalizing young Muslims, and providing weapon training to execute their terroristic designs.
Witness statements further implicated Abubacker, linking him to PFI’s broader strategy of replacing India’s Constitution with Sharia law through violent means. Abubacker’s arrest was part of a larger crackdown in 2022 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which exposed PFI’s extensive criminal conspiracy and its connections to global terror entities like ISIS.
During this multi-agency operation, PFI members were detained across 11 states and union territories, revealing the organization’s extensive network and its perilous ambitions. Despite the defense mounted by a team of prominent advocates, the court remained resolute in its stance against granting bail, underscoring the gravity of the charges and the evidence presented.
This decision reinforces the judiciary’s commitment to addressing threats against India’s democratic framework and national security.
