Justice Biswajit Palit Moves Closer to Permanency at Tripura High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has pressed the green signal for Justice Biswajit Palit’s elevation as a permanent judge of the Tripura High Court. The recommendation, finalized in its September 15 meeting, puts an end to his brief tenure as an additional judge.

Justice Palit’s judicial career has been woven into the fabric of Tripura for over two decades. Since joining the Tripura Judicial Service in 2001, he has served in nearly every district of the state, leaving his mark across seven of the eight jurisdictions. His career path has also taken him into crucial administrative corridors — from steering the Tripura State Legal Services Authority to shaping legislative and executive legal policy as Secretary of the Assembly and later as Law Secretary to the Government.

Recognized for his contributions, he earned promotion to the Selection Grade of the state’s judicial service in February 2021. Just two years later, in October 2023, he was elevated to the High Court bench as an additional judge. Now, with the Collegium’s nod, Justice Palit’s role in the state’s highest court is set to take on a more enduring permanence.
