The Supreme Court has directed a university to issue a former student’s withheld academic records, finding that she was deprived of them because of administrative and clerical failures for which she was not responsible.
Stuti Sharma completed her course, but Manav Bharti University withheld marksheets for semesters seven to ten, her degree and related certificates amid questions over admission records. The court said a student who had pursued and completed the programme could not bear the consequences of the institution’s errors.
Allowing her appeal on 24 September 2026, the bench set aside the High Court order to the extent it affected her. The university must provide the remaining marksheets, degree, character certificate and migration certificate within four weeks.
