The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of five serving additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court as permanent judges.
The decision was taken at the Collegium’s meeting on September 23, 2026.
The judges whose permanent appointment has been recommended are Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar, Justice Challa Gunaranjan, Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao.
All five are currently serving as additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Justices Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar and Challa Gunaranjan were appointed as additional judges on October 28, 2024.
The other two judges—Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao—were elevated from the judicial service and appointed as additional judges on January 24, 2025.
The Collegium’s recommendation now moves the five judges towards permanent appointment to the High Court.
