A legacy built over more than a century was celebrated on an international stage as Fox & Mandal marked its 125+ years of legal excellence with the launch of a commemorative coffee table book and a special postal stamp. The unveiling took place in Riyadh, where India’s Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal officiated the grand release during a reception held alongside Riyadh International Disputes Week 2025.
The event brought together a distinguished gathering of legal luminaries, including Chief Justice Wayne Martin of the DIFC Courts, Judge Michael Black, India’s Attorney General R. Venkataramani, and Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Also present were Dr. Hamed Merah, CEO of the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, and Kunal Vajani, Joint Managing Partner of Fox & Mandal, along with other prominent figures from the global legal community.
Established in 1896 as an Indo-British legal partnership between John Kerr Fox and Gokul Chandra Mandal, Fox & Mandal has navigated through history, adapting from a colonial-era firm to a modern legal powerhouse. The coffee table book, titled Adaptability, captures this journey, highlighting the firm’s role in shaping India’s legal landscape while chronicling its evolution in branding and ethos. More than just a historical account, the book serves as a testament to resilience, modernization, and the firm’s unwavering commitment to justice.
Adding to the milestone, India Post honored Fox & Mandal’s legacy with a dedicated postal stamp and First Day Cover—an unprecedented recognition for an Indian law firm. The stamp features sketches of the firm’s founders, while the First Day Cover showcases the iconic columns of the Calcutta High Court, symbolizing justice, reassurance, and learning. This rare tribute cements Fox & Mandal’s place in legal history, blending its past achievements with a vision for the future.
