What began as a neighbourhood squabble over pets ended in an unusual order from the Delhi High Court—serve pizzas and buttermilk to children in a state-run home.
Hearing cross-complaints of assault and intimidation, Justice Arun Monga noted that the fight had already been patched up. Continuing with criminal trials, he observed, would only waste time. Instead, he turned reconciliation into community service—by feeding children at Sanskar Ashram near GTB Hospital.
The twist? One of the complainants runs a pizza business. So the Court directed that freshly baked mixed-vegetable pizzas, paired with Amul Chaach Tetra Packs, be distributed to every child, attendant, and staff member at the Ashram.
“One pizza and one pack of buttermilk each,” the order declared, to be delivered personally as a joint effort by both sides of the dispute. The investigating officer has been tasked with ensuring the order isn’t just symbolic but actually carried out.
What started as a fight over pets now ends with a community meal—a slice of justice served hot, with a side of buttermilk.
