In a legal market teeming with musical chairs, a major move just played out in Mumbai’s dispute resolution circles. Vaibhav Singh, the seasoned litigator from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM), has packed his briefcase and headed for Veritas Legal — and he’s not arriving solo. The entire team is said to be transitioning with him, insiders confirm.
Singh’s next chapter will see him bolster Veritas’ litigation and dispute resolution muscle, a practice that’s been recalibrating following recent departures. His move follows the exit of Veritas’ own Rahul Dwarkadas, who vacated the disputes partner post not long ago.
When reached, SAM Mumbai’s Managing Partner Akshay Chudasama kept it brief, offering a courteous: “We wish him well.”
With 16 years in the trenches, Singh brings with him a rich dossier — forged in boardrooms, courtrooms, and enforcement showdowns. A Symbiosis Law School alumnus, his practice spans the spectrum: corporate and civil litigation, white-collar defence, constitutional battles, and high-stakes arbitration. He’s been counsel for the likes of Byju’s and Indian Hotels Company, navigating everything from FIRs to ED summonses.
Singh’s pivot is another data point in the lateral surge currently reshaping India’s legal landscape, as firms hustle to future-proof their rosters against the evolving demands of clients — especially in the contentious zones of commercial litigation.
Elsewhere in this reshuffle season, Trilegal recently landed IndusLaw’s disputes duo Amit Jajoo and Sushmita Gandhi, along with their full teams.
One thing’s certain: in the legal marketplace, the courtroom isn’t the only place where moves matter.
