Gates Open for the Gatekeepers: Supreme Court Sets Dates for 2025 AoR Exam

The Supreme Court has officially thrown down the gauntlet for aspiring Advocates-on-Record (AoRs), with the 2025 examination scheduled to take place over four days: June 16, 17, 20, and 21. The announcement was quietly dropped on the Court’s website today, along with details of the sitting plan and access protocols.

For the uninitiated, becoming an AoR isn’t just a line on a résumé — it’s a license to move mountains (or at least files) at the Supreme Court. Only AoRs are empowered to file cases directly before the apex court. And to get there, one must survive a gauntlet of four rigorous papers testing skills in drafting, procedure, ethics, and landmark judgments.

This year’s batch of candidates is expected to assemble at the Administrative Buildings Complex of the Supreme Court, armed with admit cards and punctuality. Entry is permitted only through Gates 1, 2, or 3 — strictly as per instructions on the admit card. Gate 3, meanwhile, plays bouncer for vehicles; only those tagged with a Supreme Court-issued parking sticker will be allowed in.

A subtle warning tucked into the notification advises candidates not to expect any sympathy (or safe keeping) if they turn up without authorized parking or leave valuables unattended. The Registry, it says, takes no responsibility for your parking woes or personal belongings.

With the dates now out in the open, the countdown begins. Four days. Four papers. One badge of distinction. The AoR title awaits — but only for those who can back their black coats with brainpower.
