An Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer has petitioned the Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail amid an ongoing investigation into the tragic death of his former girlfriend and fellow officer.
Sukanth Sukesh, 31, is seeking legal protection after concerns arose that he might face arrest in connection with the demise of 24-year-old Megha, who was found dead near railway tracks in Thiruvananthapuram on March 24.
The case, registered under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), is being probed by Pettah Police. Authorities have yet to confirm whether Megha’s death was an accident or suicide.
Her father has publicly accused Sukesh of financial exploitation, claiming Megha transferred her salary to him in recent months. He also alleged that Sukesh, despite their serious relationship, backed out of his promise to marry her.
In his petition, Sukesh insists he played no part in Megha’s death. He describes their relationship as deeply personal, stating that they had intended to marry but faced resistance from Megha’s family. He claims that this familial opposition caused her emotional distress.
According to Sukesh, he is being unfairly targeted based on speculation and media pressure. He has assured the court that he is willing to cooperate with investigators and comply with any conditions imposed should he be granted bail.
