Supreme Court’s July 2024 Highlights
The Supreme Court Collegium assembled on July 11, 2024, and recommended Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice R. Mahadevan for appointment to the Supreme Court. Their swift induction on July 18 restored the Court to its full strength of 34 judges.
High Court Adjustments
Chief Justices
- Jharkhand High Court: Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi from the Orissa High Court was appointed as the Chief Justice on July 3, 2024.
- Punjab and Haryana High Court: Justice Sheel Nagu from the Madhya Pradesh High Court took charge as Chief Justice as of July 4, 2024.
Acting Chief Justices
- Kerala High Court: Justice Muhamed Mustaque Ayumantak assumed the role on July 3, 2024.
- Madhya Pradesh High Court: Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva stepped in following Justice Sheel Nagu’s transfer.
