May 16 will mark the final chapter in Justice Bela M Trivedi’s tenure at the Supreme Court, as she joins a ceremonial bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai for one last sitting on the bench.
Though her official retirement date is June 9, her last working day will be commemorated this Thursday alongside Justices Gavai and Augustine George Masih. It’s a quiet yet dignified closure to a judicial journey that has stretched across three decades.
Justice Trivedi’s story began in the judiciary as a Judge of the City Civil and Sessions Court in Ahmedabad back in July 1995. Her ascent to the Gujarat High Court came in February 2011, and a decade later, she stepped into the apex court in August 2021.
As the curtains gently draw to a close, the ceremonial bench stands not just as a farewell, but as a salute to a career carved with persistence, precision, and presence.
