Justice Hima Kohli Leads Revamped Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation Committee

Justice Hima Kohli has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Supreme Court’s Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC). The committee, reconstituted under the authority of the Chief Justice of India, also includes Justice BV Nagarathna among its twelve members.

The official announcement, dated May 31, outlined that the Chief Justice exercised powers under Clause 4(2) of the 2013 Regulations concerning the Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women within the Supreme Court. The GSICC’s mission is to raise awareness on gender issues and handle sexual harassment complaints within the court’s precincts.

The committee members joining Justices Kohli and Nagarathna are:

  • Dr. Sukhda Pritam, Additional Registrar
  • Senior Advocate Meenakshi Arora
  • Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani
  • Advocate Soumyajit Pani (Supreme Court Bar Association representative)
  • Advocate Anindita Pujari (Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Association representative)
  • Madhu Chauhan (Supreme Court Bar Clerks’ Association representative)
  • Shruti Pandey (Professor of Legal Practice, Jindal Global Law School)
  • Senior Advocate Jaideep Gupta (senior SCBA member)
  • Leni Chaudhuri (Executive Director, University of Chicago Centre in India Pvt. Ltd)
  • Senior Advocate Dr. Menaka Guruswamy

This reconstituted committee is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting gender sensitivity and ensuring a safe working environment at the Supreme Court.
