Kangana Ranaut & Javed Akhtar Call a Truce, End Legal Feud After Five Years

Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut and veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar have officially closed the chapter on their long-standing legal battle, choosing mediation over prolonged courtroom drama. The two have withdrawn the criminal intimidation and defamation cases they had filed against each other, marking the end of a dispute that had dragged on for half a decade.

The resolution came through a settlement, after which both personally appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Bandra. The magistrate formally recorded their agreement, bringing a legal closure to the matter.

Akhtar’s original defamation case, filed in December 2020, stemmed from Ranaut’s interview on Republic TV, where he alleged she had tarnished his reputation by linking him to the controversy surrounding the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In response, Ranaut countered with her own case, accusing Akhtar of intimidation and extortion.

With both parties opting for an amicable resolution, the courtroom battle has now given way to reconciliation, ending one of Bollywood’s most publicized legal spats.
