This week, the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London buzzes with legal luminaries as London International Disputes Week (LIDW) hits a new attendance record. With over 20,000 registrations and more than 1,000 delegates jetting in from across the globe, this year’s LIDW boasts representation from over 100 countries, more than doubling last year’s figures.
The Main Conference’s compelling agenda, featuring keynotes from prominent figures such as the Lady Chief Justice, The Rt Hon. the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, and Meg Kinnear, Secretary-General of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), has drawn over 600 delegates. This year’s theme, ‘uniting’, resonates strongly as LIDW24 witnesses a significant uptick in international participation, including in-house lawyers and private practitioners.
Inclusivity takes center stage with the Young and Young at Heart (YAHYAH) program expanding access for younger attendees, and a notable increase in member-hosted events, tallying over 150 sessions. Highlights include panels on disability inclusion and practical advice for implementing the ICC’s Disability Inclusion Guidelines 2023.
Michael Fletcher, Co-Chair of LIDW, remarked, “LIDW24 reflects London’s pivotal role in international dispute resolution. We are thrilled to host such a diverse group of practitioners who will explore and discuss the critical issues facing the industry.”
New to this year’s conference are networking hubs designed to foster interactions among delegates and a legal tech hub showcasing innovations from both established and start-up organizations.
Key topics on the Main Conference agenda include:
- Risk & Reputation in a Values-Driven World
- The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Law
- Global Perspectives on the Enforcement of Judgments and Awards
- Future Trends in Disputes Funding
