NEET UG 2024: Supreme Court Demands Answers on Alleged Paper Leaks and Malpractices

The Supreme Court has put the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union Government on notice regarding accusations of paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 exam. On June 13, 2024, the Court endorsed the decision to revoke grace marks for 1,563 candidates who didn’t receive adequate time to complete the exam, offering them a chance to retake it later this month.

Amid the controversy, the vacation Division Bench, consisting of Justices Vikram Nath and SV Bhatti, emphasized the necessity for accountability. They remarked, “Even the slightest negligence must be addressed thoroughly.” The Bench urged the NTA to acknowledge any errors transparently and outline corrective measures, asserting that such actions would bolster public trust in the agency’s processes.

Despite the ongoing investigations, the Court decided not to halt the counseling process for undergraduate medical seats, assuring that any decisions made could be subsequently reversed if necessary.
