Pioneers of Insolvency Law Recognized with Prestigious Fellowship Honors

In a momentous recognition of their unparalleled contributions to insolvency law, the Insolvency Law Academy (ILA) will bestow its Honorary Emeritus Fellowship on two towering figures in the Indian judiciary—former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud, and former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul—on November 14, 2024.

Also honored with this prestigious distinction are global leaders in insolvency, including Mr. Neil Cooper, past president of INSOL International, and Professor Bob Wessels, Professor Emeritus at Leiden University.

The ILA’s Emeritus Fellowship is reserved for exceptional public servants, legal professionals, or industry experts who have devoted over twenty-five years to advancing insolvency law, maintaining the highest standards of ethics, and demonstrating extraordinary leadership and integrity. Awardees are selected by the ILA Global Advisory Board, following a rigorous selection process.

Since its inception in 2022, the ILA Fellowship has highlighted the global importance of insolvency leadership. Past recipients include the late Arun Jaitley, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, and Justice Manmohan Sarin in 2022, as well as Dr. Bibek Debroy, Dr. T.K. Viswanathan, and Mr. Patrick Ang in 2023.

The Insolvency Law Academy, an independent think tank, continues to lead the way in policy development, professional standards, and ethical practices within the insolvency sector. Its mission is to foster innovation and promote scholarly research in the field, further strengthening the community dedicated to insolvency law worldwide.
