In collaboration with NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, the CAN Foundation proudly announces the 4th Justice HR Khanna Memorial National Symposium on July 6th, 2024. This virtual symposium honors the life and contributions of the late Justice HR Khanna, a monumental figure in Indian judicial history.

A Life of Integrity and Justice Justice HR Khanna, born on October 28, 1912, in Amritsar, Punjab, embarked on a distinguished legal career that profoundly impacted India’s judiciary. Known for his steadfast dedication to the rule of law and protection of fundamental rights, his tenure as a Supreme Court Judge from 1971 to 1977 saw him deliver landmark judgments that continue to influence Indian democracy. His commitment to justice, even in times of political turmoil, remains a beacon of hope and integrity for legal professionals.

Symposium Highlights The event will feature prominent figures in the legal field, including Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. V. Sanjay Kumar, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.V. Viswanathan, and Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Sunita Agarwal. The symposium will be divided into two sessions:

  1. Contours Of The Basic Structure Of Our Constitution – Delving into the evolving framework of the Constitution through judicial interpretations.
  2. Perspectives of Legal Dimension of Climate Change in the 21st Century – Addressing the legal aspects of climate change, encompassing laws, international treaties, and environmental justice.

Legacy of the Symposium Since its inception, the Justice HR Khanna Memorial National Symposium has seen collaboration with various prestigious law universities and the participation of eminent legal luminaries. This tradition continues in the 4th edition, providing a platform for meaningful discourse and honoring Justice Khanna’s enduring legacy.
