In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court granted interim relief to YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, best known as Beer Biceps, in relation to two FIRs filed against him for comments made during his appearance on the show India’s Got Latent. The Court temporarily halted his arrest in cases filed in Maharashtra and Assam, with the condition that he cooperates with the ongoing investigations.
The Division Bench, comprising Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh, issued the order while noting the importance of Allahabadia’s participation in the inquiry. As part of the ruling, the Court also imposed a ban on any future episodes of the show featuring the YouTuber until further notice.
Allahabadia’s legal counsel, Abhinav Chandrachud, informed the Court of the death threats his client had been receiving. The matter raised significant legal questions about whether Allahabadia’s use of the word “disgusting” in his comments could be considered criminal.
