In a significant turn of events, television actor Shweta Tiwari has withdrawn her petition to quash a forgery case after the police concluded their investigation with an A-summary report, citing insufficient evidence.
The case, rooted in allegations from 2017, was filed in 2021 by Tiwari’s ex-husband, Abhinav Kohli, who claimed she forged his signature on a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC) to secure a visa for their son to travel to the UK. Kohli had alerted the British consulate, leading to the visa’s cancellation.
On December 18, a Bombay High Court Bench accepted the police report, effectively closing the matter. Tiwari, who had previously sought to have the case dismissed, argued the allegations stemmed from personal conflicts and pointed out that Kohli had traveled with them to the UK in 2018 for their son’s medical treatment, granting consent at the time.
The case has been a flashpoint in the turbulent history between Tiwari and Kohli, who divorced in 2019 following domestic violence claims. Despite the legal dispute, the court acknowledged the police’s findings, bringing an end to the prolonged investigation.
