Supreme Court Denies Ranveer Allahbadia’s Request for Foreign Travel Amid Investigation

Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, must remain in India as the Supreme Court refused to lift his travel restrictions while an obscenity case against him is under investigation. The YouTuber had petitioned the court for permission to travel abroad, arguing that his work requires meeting guests for his podcast. However, the court maintained that he must stay put until the inquiry concludes.

The court had earlier granted Allahbadia permission to resume his podcast on the condition that he maintains decency and avoids discussing ongoing legal matters. Representing the Maharashtra government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench that the investigation is expected to wrap up in two weeks.

Acknowledging Allahbadia’s commitment to keeping his content within acceptable moral boundaries, the court noted that his travel request could be revisited after the investigation concludes. Until then, his passport remains in police custody, preventing any international trips.

The case stems from controversial remarks made during an episode of India’s Got Latent, which triggered multiple complaints against Allahbadia and others involved. The Supreme Court previously condemned the statements, calling them offensive and inappropriate. While the court initially barred him from producing content, it later eased restrictions, allowing him to continue podcasting under strict guidelines.

Today’s proceedings also touched on a related case involving YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who sought relief from an FIR in Assam. The court had earlier granted him anticipatory bail, and he now seeks to have the case transferred to Mumbai, where the initial complaint was filed.

With the next hearing scheduled for April 21, Allahbadia remains under scrutiny, and the court has hinted at a broader discussion on regulating online content to prevent similar incidents in the future.
