In a pivotal development regarding the NEET-UG 2024 examination, the Supreme Court has intervened by issuing a notice and staying proceedings in multiple High Courts across the country. The move follows a transfer plea by the National Testing Agency (NTA), seeking consolidation of cases related to the alleged paper leak.
The affected petitions were originally filed in the High Courts of Rajasthan, Calcutta, and Bombay. The Supreme Court’s vacation Division Bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti not only issued the notice but also emphasized the necessity of maintaining continuity in the examination and counselling processes. They clarified, “No stay on counselling. If examination proceeds post-final hearing, counselling shall also proceed accordingly.”
