In a significant move to bolster gender sensitivity and address complaints of sexual harassment within its precincts, the Supreme Court of India has re-constituted its Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee. This action was taken under Regulation 4 of the Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Regulations, 2013.
Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud utilized his regulatory powers on May 31, 2024, to make this reformation. Justice Hima Kohli, who led the committee in 2022 and 2023, has been reinstated as Chairperson. Joining her are Justice BV Nagarathna, Additional Registrar Sukhda Pritam as Member Secretary, and a diverse team of legal experts and professionals.

Regulation 4 mandates that the committee should consist of no fewer than seven and no more than thirteen members. This committee plays a pivotal role in educating the public on gender issues and handling sexual harassment complaints within the Supreme Court.
