A Bengaluru court has issued an arrest warrant against former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa. The warrant follows allegations of sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl, leading to charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 354(A) of the Indian Penal Code.
Judge N M Ramesh of the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court sanctioned the warrant after an application by the Crime Investigation Department (CID), who are probing the case. The allegations suggest the incident occurred at Yediyurappa’s residence in Bengaluru.
In response, Yediyurappa sought the cancellation of the POCSO charges from the Karnataka High Court. This request is currently pending.
