The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled that guest faculty members have no vested right to regularisation and may continue only while work is available and until a regularly appointed or transferred incumbent takes charge.
In a batch decided on 6 October 2026, the Court upheld the State’s recruitment framework, including reservation and age-relaxation measures. It rejected claims that prolonged guest service itself created an entitlement to permanent appointment.
The Court nevertheless directed that a displaced guest faculty member should be offered the nearest available post in the relevant subject, where one exists. The decision balances continuity for temporary teachers with the State’s authority to fill sanctioned posts through regular recruitment.
