Supreme Court Upholds Convictions In Wife’s Strangulation Case

The Supreme Court on 2 November 2026 upheld Ramkishan Digambar Jadhav’s murder conviction and the surviving appellants’ dowry-death and cruelty convictions, directing surrender within four weeks.

Judge / Bench — Sandeep Mehta and Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, JJ.; judgment by Sandeep Mehta, J.

In Criminal Appeals 1849/2013 and 962/2014 (2026 INSC 1187), medical evidence established throttling. The Court rejected the husband’s accidental-death explanation, treating his failure to explain events within his special knowledge as an additional link in the circumstantial case. Digambar’s appeal had abated following his death.
