The Supreme Court has ended a transfer dispute involving State Bank of India employee Neeraj Sharma by recording the bank’s later decision to place him in its Delhi Circle.
Sharma had challenged his transfer from Jaipur to Hyderabad on health grounds. While the litigation was pending, the bank considered his representation and offered a Delhi posting. The court allowed SBI’s appeal in terms of that decision and set aside the Division Bench judgment under challenge.
The order directs that Sharma be posted in the Delhi Circle and, unless administrative exigencies require otherwise, remain there until he becomes eligible for a further transfer under the bank’s policy.
The ruling resolves the individual dispute without turning the employee’s medical claim into a broad restriction on managerial transfer powers. The pending High Court writ petition is to be disposed of consistently with the Supreme Court’s directions.
