The Supreme Court has modified one of Meeran Haider’s bail conditions, reducing mandatory police reporting from twice weekly to once every Saturday.
Haider told the Court that attending Crime Branch headquarters on two days each week caused substantial hardship. Delhi Police did not oppose the limited adjustment. The Court directed him to report every Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon.
It also excused him from attendance on October 17 and October 24 because of marriage-related commitments. All other bail conditions challenged in his application remain unchanged.
The order illustrates a proportionate approach to post-release supervision: reporting requirements may be tailored when compliance becomes unnecessarily burdensome, while the remainder of the bail framework continues to protect the investigation and trial process.
