Delhi Court Seeks Interpol Notice Against Contempt Accused

The Delhi High Court has directed India’s federal investigative agency to seek an Interpol Red Notice against a man accused of threatening and abusing judges.

The order followed unsuccessful attempts to secure his physical appearance through non-bailable warrants and a domestic lookout notice. Authorities informed the court that he had travelled abroad and may have participated in online proceedings from California.

The court also directed Indian authorities to communicate with their United States counterparts and investigate the internet address used for his latest virtual appearance.

The case demonstrates the limits of domestic coercive orders when an accused person is abroad. An Interpol notice can assist in locating an individual, but it is not itself an international arrest warrant. Any detention or surrender remains subject to local law and applicable extradition procedures.
