The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to Sanjay Saini in a Haryana case after finding that custodial interrogation was unnecessary.
The FIR invoked Sections 308(2), 351(2) and 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Saini had joined the investigation under an earlier Supreme Court direction. The complainant, though served, did not appear to oppose his appeal.
On a preliminary assessment, the Court described the dispute as arising from a consensual relationship that had turned sour. Haryana opposed protection by stressing the nature of the allegations, but the judges found cooperation with investigators sufficient to remove the need for custody.
The trial court will set the bail conditions. The ruling remains confined to pre-arrest protection and does not determine the truth of the allegations or the eventual criminal liability.
